About Us

Police is my Brother Initiative

Established: 2012

Overview

The idea behind Police is My Brother began in 2012 with the President and founder, Peter Mbugua, commonly known as 2Sharp. After living a life of crime for years and having several encounters with the police, he was fortunate to come across an officer who helped him reform. Thanks to this officer, 2Sharp was able to leave his life of crime behind and turn over a new leaf. It was this encounter, along with interactions with other significant individuals he encountered, that inspired him to chart a path to help reform other young individuals in a unique way and to show appreciation to officers who have played pivotal roles in the lives of similar young boys and girls who have been involved in crime.

Our main goal is not only to appreciate officers but also to help young boys and girls involved in crime to leave it behind. We have been able to achieve this through programs aimed at connecting with the public, such as community policing and slum network reforms. By demonstrating that police officers are human too and can be approached, we aim to ensure that young individuals can trust the police service—a crucial first step towards creating peaceful and secure neighborhoods. Additionally, we have a broader vision where not only Kenya but the world could collaborate more effectively with police officers to build more progressive and safer communities. At Police is My Brother, we firmly believe that "Security is My Responsibility."

Vision

To foster a united community where trust, cooperation, and mutual respect between the Police and the public prevail, ensuring safer and more secure neighborhoods.

Mission

Police is my Brother is dedicated to bridging the gap between the Police and the public through:

  • Rewarding and recognizing police officers for their dedicated service and positive impact on communities.
  • Providing a transparent and effective platform for reporting crime, evaluating police stations, and recognizing outstanding officers.
  • Implementing innovative community policing programs, reforming slum networks, and promoting peace and security initiatives to empower and protect all citizens.

Peter Wainaina, also known as 2Sharp, has a heart of gold and a calling to make this world a better place, one child at a time. This path has not been easy. As a result of economic and political upheaval, Peter was swayed into a life of a gangster at a young age, hoping to have a full belly and roof over his head. Peter participated in a life of crime, drugs, and distrust in police for over a decade. He over and over was taken advantage of at the hands of corrupt politicians.
